All Things Open 2020 – Moving Forward As Planned
March 10, 2020We’d like to take just a minute and address the Coronavirus situation. It’s top-of-mind for many at the moment, and justifiably so. We’ve received a few questions from our community, which is perfectly understandable given the way things have transpired.
First, we sincerely hope everyone is safe and that no one in our community has been negatively impacted. In addition, we suggest every precautionary step possible be taken moving forward. Safety is priority #1.
That said, we do plan to move forward with All Things Open later this year in October as planned, and we’re really hoping the threat has been effectively addressed well before that time. While we hear differing opinions on when it might be contained and the threat diminished and possibly eliminated, there seems to be general consensus things should be somewhat back to “normal” by summer/fall.
Moving forward we’ll continue to monitor every source of information available to us, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the following individual sources within the larger portals:
1. CDC – Situation in the U.S.
2. CDC – Mass Gathering Checklist
3. CDC – Risk Assessment
4. CDC – Prevention Tips
5. WHO – Q&A on COVID-19 (great information)
In addition, we’re actively looking at steps we can take to decrease any existing / remaining risk to attendees, and rest assured we will act on and implement these in every derivation possible. Be on the lookout for more details moving forward and in the near future.
We welcome comments and questions and encourage direct communication via email at info@allthingsopen.org. We’re working hard to make the best of a difficult and unprecedented situation. We welcome all the help and ideas we can get.
