7-step framework for surviving an open source fork
1. Stay calm and gather the facts before acting
Forks often spark heated discussions, but don’t make hasty decisions. Begin by understanding why the split occurred. Was it a dispute about governance? A disagreement on technical direction? A company takeover? Engage with the community’s mailing lists, GitHub issues, or public forums to get the needed clarity.
