Our September meetup will focus on an incredibly hot and important topic for developers and technologists of all types – Introduction to GitHub Actions – How to easily automate and integrate with GitHub.

Our speaker is Brent Laster, DevOps Director and Trainer at SAS and tech Skills Transformations LLC. Brent will be visiting us from the Research Triangle Park (RTP).

Doors open at 6:00 pm, live programing begins at 6:30 pm ET sharp. We’ll begin the evening with a few community announcements, then we’ll quickly move to our speaker.

Bio:
Brent Laster is a global trainer, author, and speaker on open-source technologies, as well as an R&D DevOps director at SAS. He is also the founder and president of Tech Skills Transformations, LLC – a company dedicated to making technology understandable and usable. Throughout his career in software development and management, Brent has always made time to learn and develop both technical and leadership skills and share them with others. He believes that regardless of the topic or technology, there’s no substitute for the excitement and sense of potential that come from providing others with the knowledge they need to accomplish their goals.

In this talk, open-source author, trainer and DevOps director Brent Laster will provide a solid introduction to GitHub Actions. You’ll learn about the core parts and pieces that make up an action, as well as the types of functionality and features they provide. You’ll also see how to combine them in simple workflows to accomplish basic tasks as well as how they can fit into a CI/CD environment.
