Open Source Score
Open Source Score (OSS) is an educational tool and survey designed to gauge open-source process experience and knowledge.
Once completed the tool does three things:
- Generates a score of 0-100, with 0 being a low level of process knowledge and experience and 100 being high
- Lets you know how your score compares to everyone that has taken the survey
- Forwards educational links to open source educational resources

What is Open Source Score?
This survey is an attempt to quantify and measure the open-source process experience. It is 14 questions and will take 1-2 minutes to complete. Once taken, responses will be quantified on a scale of 1-100.
What are open source processes? Things like the following:
- Contributing to open-source projects, which can take many forms
- Being familiar with and using open source licenses
- Working in an environment with open source governance policies
- Open-sourcing an existing internal tool or technology
- Having and maintaining a GitHub account
- Serving as an open-source project maintainer
Why?
While most everyone understands the importance of having open-source technical experience and expertise, far fewer realize companies and organizations need people with open source process experience as well.
