Ian Chen is a Research Engineer at Open Robotics where he contributes to open source software for robotics. He is one of the core developers of the open source 3D robot simulator, Gazebo. He has also been involved in building cloud-based simulation platforms for virtual robotics competitions including the DARPA Robotics Challenge and the NASA Space Robotics Challenge.
Prior to joining Open Robotics, he was a software engineer at Nokia where he contributed to the open source Qt framework. Before that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Auckland where he worked on visualization, 3D perception, and human-robot interaction projects.
